A South Staffordshire swimming pool will shut for three months for a £200,000 refurbishment.

Codsall Leisure Centre's pool will be refitted this summer with work planned on the pool and surround, lighting, air handling system and windows.

Council chiefs have also revealed there are plans to install a spectator area at the pool, which is on Elliotts Lane. The refurbishment is due to start on June 23 and finish in September. During the refurbishment, the pool will be closed although all other leisure centre facilities will be open as normal.

Swimming will still be available at the other South Staffordshire venues including Cheslyn Hay, Penkridge and Wombourne leisure centres. Wolverhampton Central Baths is one of the closest alternatives.

The pool is popular with people in Codsall and Bilbrook and people also travel from Perton to use it. For the swimming times available at the other centres, visit www.sstaffs.gov.uk/leisure
