Preparations are already underway for next year's Bewdley Pub and Club Regatta – after delighted organisers revealed this year's event had been the biggest and best yet.

More than 63 teams of rowers took part in this year's event in front of 800 spectators along the River Severn on Saturday.

The event, organised by Bewdley Rowing Club, sees teams of amateur rowers from pubs and clubs in the town compete against each another after receiving month-long training from one of the club's experts.

But because the event has become so popular and there are only a limited number of experts to serve as coaches some are doubling up by training two teams. Teams can sign up from April.

Clubhouse chairman Sarah Bastida said: "Next year will be a first come, first served basis."
