A Black Country bride who nearly had her dream wedding cancelled due to the swine flu outbreak has returned from her "perfect wedding".

Karla and John Morley were set to marry in Cancun and were devastated when their flights to Mexico were cancelled.

Tour operator Virgin stepped in to rearrange the wedding in the Caribbean island of Barbados, and after tying the knot on May 4 they have returned to their Tipton home.

The couple, from Beam Drive, and another 12 friends and family were at Heathrow Airport on April 28 when they received the devastating news that their flight had been cancelled because of swine flu.

The Foreign Office had advised people not to fly to Mexico unless absolutely necessary. The wedding party included Karla's parents, Patricia and Barry Mycock, and John's mother and father, Stephen and Jacqueline Morley. But the next day they were on a flight to Barbados.

Karla said: "Everything was lovely. The wedding day went very smoothly."

It was not the first setback for the couple, who will have an official honeymoon to Las Vegas in October.

Bridegroom John, aged 28, an IT officer at Dudley Council was left out of pocket when Walsall coach firm A2Z Travel, due to take him on his stag party, had its licence revoked.

Karla, 23, added: "Even though our dream day had been cancelled it was still a perfect day."
