Isabel is our 'miracle' baby
Black Country mother Michelle Jalowieck beat odds of millions to one to give birth to miracle baby Isabel, after having life-saving surgery at Sandwell Hospital.
Michelle had been told there was more chance of someone "winning the lottery twice" than of her having children. But she went on to prove doctors wrong after Isabel was born at 34 weeks, weighing 5lb 8oz.
Office worker Michelle, aged 35 and married to 34-year-old Alex, suffered a miscarriage in 2006. During subsequent treatment doctors found a large cyst behind her uterus. Her consultant battled for more than five hours during surgery to deal with an infection that could have killed her. And there were concerns she may have been left infertile after three-and-a-half litres of poison were drained from her body.
"Afterwards another doctor told me I would never have children and I was utterly devastated," said Michelle of Tat Bank Road, Oldbury. But surprisingly she fell pregnant in December 2007. She said: "Isabel is a real blessing. We are just delighted to have our happy, healthy miracle baby."
