A prize bull fell 8ft down a well and had to be pulled out by firefighters at a farm near Stourbridge.
Crews were called to Hill Farm, in Hockley Brook Lane, Belbroughton, yesterday at around midday.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue spokesman Alec Mackie said it took Bromsgrove and Droitwich firefighters more than two hours to winch the bull out from the well in a field near the farm.
He said: "It took quite a job getting him out."
He also added that the Droitwich fire crew had to use some specialist heavy lifting equipment which would normally be used to free people who are trapped in collapsed buildings.
The bull was believed to have suffered nothing more than grazed knees and a grazed tail in the ordeal.
