An empty library in Dudley could be sold off to developers for it to be turned into houses and shops, it has been revealed.
Quarry Bank library shut late last year. Now the building, in Quarry Bank High Street, is set to be transformed into two shops with three flats above.
A disused council estate office on land behind the library is also earmarked for housing.
Plans submitted to Dudley Council reveal the authority has offered to sell the library to a company called IP Developments, based in Cradley Heath, who have already submitted plans for the site.
They hope to gain permission for a change of use from a library and conversion into two shops on the ground floor and an extension to accommodate a total of three apartments above. IP Developments has submitted a separate application for the land at the back of the library.
