A man had his arm amputated in a massive electric shock while he is believed to have tried to steal copper – triggering a power cut to 1,300 properties.

A man had his arm amputated in a massive electric shock while he is believed to have tried to steal copper – triggering a power cut to 1,300 properties.

Police and fire crews were called to Langley Maltings in Station Road, Oldbury just after 3pm yesterday afternoon. Spokeswoman Catherine Preece said: "A man was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition."

At the time of the accident it is believed he was attempting to steal copper and steel from the disused factory.
