Revolutionary speed warning signs, the first of their kind in the West Midlands, will be installed on two busy Walsall roads next week.
The speed and crime-busting Watchmen signs will warn drivers to slow down while number plate recognition technology will be used to record drivers' details.
The £60,000 signs will be put in place along Broadway, Walsall, between the A34 Birmingham Road and the A4031 West Bromwich Road and in Northgate, Aldridge, near the junction with Shenstone Close.
More than 15,000 cars and lorries drive along these roads each day. Messages will be flashed up to warn speedy drivers to slow down, while cameras contained within the signs will identify suspect vehicles and report details to the police.
Motorists who are persistently snapped breaking the speed limit will be issued with warning letters.
It is hoped the signs will be in place in Aldridge by Wednesday and along the Broadway by Friday.
