A senior councillor and the vice chairman of West Midlands Police Authority is recovering at home after suffering a stroke.

Councillor Keith Davies, who represents Smethwick, fell unwell last Friday during a meeting of the police authority.

The 68-year-old's wife, St Paul's councillor Pat Davies, said today that he was feeling better.

She said: "He has been advised to take it easy for a little while but he is doing really, really well."

Father-of-three Mr Davies is recuperating at the family home in Great Barr.
