Toppled crane traps driver
A crane operator was trapped for an hour after his vehicle toppled over while working in the grounds of West Midland Safari Park.
The man, in his early 50s, was cut free from his cab by firefighters at the site in Bewdley at around 2.45pm and had to be taken to hospital by air ambulance.
He suffered back injuries and was treated by paramedics as crews worked to free him from his crane.
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman John Hawker said "On arrival at the scene, crews found a small crane-type vehicle that had overturned within a works area, within the safari park.
"The driver, a man in his early 50s was trapped in the cab of the vehicle for around an hour. The man received treatment for his injuries by ambulance crews while being released by the fire service. A slow careful extrication was carried out as the patient was stable and had no life or limb threatening injuries."
The man was taken to Selly Oak Hospital for further treatment.
