Model's dreams are shattered
A teenager who had dreams of becoming a model was left scarred for life after a drunk schoolgirl smashed a wine bottle in her face in a Black Country park, a court heard.
Charlotte Ditchfield, who is now 16, was left with a scar across her forehead and on her arm after the attack. Judge Anthony Cleary said that it was a "small mercy" the youngster, of Bournes Crescent, Halesowen, did not suffer more serious injuries.
He told her 16-year-old attacker, who was 14 at the time and cannot be named for legal reasons: "Because of your irresponsible, feckless and drunken behaviour, a young woman has been scarred for life."
The teenager admitted wounding when she appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court. Another teenager, Kaylie Jones, 18, of Rodfly Lane, Pensnett, admitted affray.
Judge Cleary sentenced the 16-year-old to a two-year detention and training order. Jones was given a 12-month prison term suspended for two years, a two-year supervision order and 100 hours' unpaid work.
