Woman in blaze drama

An elderly woman was led to safety by her carer as a blaze gutted a bedroom at her home in Wordsley.

The 84-year-old had been in the lounge of her bungalow in Fernleigh Gardens, Wordsley, when her electric blanket set alight.

She was led out by her carer who had called in to check on her before emergency crews arrived.

The pensioner had been alerted to the blaze in her bedroom when the smoke alarm sounded at 9pm last night.
