New look for slimmer gran
Weighing 18 and a half stone and squeezing into huge clothes, it was only when Rachel Stanton's doctor told her she was on the verge of being diabetic that she knew her lifestyle had to change.
After ditching her daily doses of curry and pizza and cheese sandwiches for breakfast, it has taken the grandmother a year to shed six stone and become fighting fit.
The 38-year-old used to spend most of the day eating, snacking on crisps throughout the morning, pasties and baguettes for lunch before ordering a takeaway at night and finishing off with biscuits.
But after the single mother of three from Bull Street, Darlaston, joined a slimming group at Darlaston Town Hall the results have been astonishing.
As well as a healthy eating plan she also exercises regularly and enjoys cycling and long walks, helping her go from a size 26 to a shapely 14. "Last year I knew I had to do something," she said.
"I was on the verge of being a diabetic and I really feared for my health. I was only 37 and thought that I must do something before it was too late. I also didn't like the way I looked in my clothes.
"Being single I would come back home and instead of cooking for myself I would order a takeaway. The result was that I got fat.
"Now I eat healthy food and exercise regularly. I feel absolutely great. The Weight Watchers classes have been fantastic for me."
