Funding is being sought for two major play schemes planned for Kidderminster and Bewdley.

Members of Wyre Forest District Council are being recommended to apply for grants from Worcestershire County Council for the two important schemes.

One application would be for £15,000 towards the £92,000 cost of providing a natural play area at Woodbury Road in Kidderminster.

The scheme is also being funded by Wyre Forest Community Housing Group and Pathfinder.

The second application is for £25,000 to provide play sculptures and a timber-made draughts board at the Queen Elizabeth II Gardens woodland area in Bewdley.

Council officials have proposed putting forward the two schemes for funding from a pot of £400,000 which is being earmarked for spending on play projects across the county this year.

Each local authority across the county has also been urged to draw up action plans for submission to the Big Lottery Fund.
