Esso is to sell its eyesore former petrol station in Tettenhall, it was revealed today.

The company, which ran the derelict Newbridge service station that closed in 2005, had been trying to bring it back into use but proposals were thrown out by planners last year.

Now it says it is looking to offload the site for commercial use or as a petrol station.

Esso spokeswoman Sophie Foale said: "Esso has decided to market the site of the former Esso Newbridge service station.

"The site is to be sold for either commercial or continued petroleum use via Esso's property agents."

Plans to re-open the station were thrown out in May last year. Planning chiefs claimed Esso's plans to open a new shop, with canopy and pumps, were of poor design. Anyone interested in the site is asked to contact 0207 1823060.
