A new doorway has been approved for Bewdley Museum as part of plans for a new display area.

An existing access point will also blocked up as part of the scheme.

Members of Wyre Forest District Council's planning development control committee said the alterations would be compatible with the historic character of the Grade II listed building in Load Street in the town.

The alterations are due to be carried out at the rear of the museum site in the foundry area.

But because the application has been submitted on behalf of the council the application will now need to be forwarded to the Secretary of State via the Government Office for the West Midlands to see if officials want to call in the scheme for a decision.
