Three dead after blackspot road crash
Three people were killed when a high-powered sports car bought just four days ago smashed into a wall on a notorious road near Wolverhampton.
The victims, two women and a 27-year-old, died after the silver-coloured Subaru Impreza flipped into the air and came crashing into the front wall of a house on the A449 Stourbridge Road.
The woman driver and her two passengers, who are believed to be in their 20s, were killed instantly.
The car was heading towards Wolverhampton when tragedy struck at around 8.30 last night near Wombourne, between Wodehouse Lane and Lloyd Drive.
Speaking at the scene, Harvinder Randhawa, aged 24, from Blakenhall, Wolverhampton, named his brother Jasvinder, an IT helpdesk worker at Carillion, as one of the dead.
He was the front seat passenger.
Harvinder, who owned the car, claimed he had bought it on Monday.
He said: "Jasvinder was borrowing the car and had left home in it 20 minutes before the crash. He said he would be back in 10 minutes.
"My whole family is absolutely devastated. I'm still in shock. I can't believe this has happened."
Vet Ian Orr, aged 54, whose home is next door to where the car came to rest, was first on the scene.
He said: "The roof was completely flattened. It seemed as though the vehicle had flipped into the air and gone into the wall.
"Another of our neighbours is a retired GP who also came to help, but it was very quickly obvious there was nothing we could do."
Last year, Luke Woodstock, 19, of Wordsley, and 51-year-old Jagjit Singh, of Penn, were killed within weeks of each other in separate crashes on the same stretch of road, that has a speed limit of 70mph.
Staffordshire County Council is looking at reducing the speed limit and has laid an anti-skid surface on the inbound bend.
