Man stabbed outside bookies

A man was stabbed when violence flared outside a bookmakers in Wolverhampton.

A teenager was arrested after police were called to the Avion Centre in Whitmore Reans, off Newhampton Road East, at around 1.20pm yesterday.

Detectives said today that the victim, a 46-year-old man, remained in a stable condition in the city's New Cross Hospital.

His injures are not thought to be life-threatening.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

Officers taped off a small section of the centre outside the William Hill bookmakers.

The stabbing happened just yards from the Bagot Arms pub, where city father-of-two Luke Harris was shot dead a year ago.
