Museum soon to celebrate £500k scheme

Building work on a £500,000 major refurbishment scheme at Bewdley Museum is almost complete ready for the official reopening on May 2.

An old saw mill has been transformed into a new centre.

This will be used for learning and community events.

Education facilities have been improved along with the creation of three new craft studios for local craft workers and a new tea shop.

The museum gained a Heritage Lottery grant of £480,000 towards the work.

Museum technician Dave Darby said: "There is still a lot of work to do before we open in May, but it is really good to see the improvements taking shape.

"I think people will be quite surprised at how much has happened over the winter months." A special weekend on May 3 and 4 will celebrate the opening.
