The boy was seen at 5am on Saturday at a squash club in Darlaston, Walsall, West Mids, but fled when staff approached him, saying he did not know where his mother was.

Later he was seen near an ASDA supermarket and at a bank in the town centre and was captured by CCTV a number of times, but was not reported missing.

Today a West Midlands Police spokeswoman said the boy had returned home and was "safe and well".
