Hunt for the heroes begins
An awards ceremony that celebrates inspiring tales of bravery and commitment from people across the Black Country and Staffordshire marks its fifth anniversary this year.

The 2009 Local Heroes Awards, organised by the Express & Star, is again being sponsored by Birmingham Midshires and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The annual celebration takes place every December at Molineux and honours people whose hard work, fortitude and triumph have made a difference to both their lives and those of others.
Last year's winners included Paralympics golden girl Eleanor Simmonds from Aldridge, Walsall; war hero Private Luke Cole from Warstones, Wolverhampton; and Smethwick's marathon man Malcolm Carr.
The winners, who were selected by judges at the Express & Star, received their awards, personalised front page and a cheque from Birmingham Midshires in front of an star-studded audience. Express & Star editor Adrian Faber said the awards were a fantastic way to honour the region's heroes and preparations were under way for this year's ceremony.
He said: "Every year, the ceremony provides a tremendous showcase for the unsung heroes of the West Midlands. Their stories have been an inspiration to us all."
