Tickets to see the Modfather at Birches Valley on June 26 were snapped up in just five weeks. In previous years, artists have taken around 14 weeks to sell out.

Forestry Commission spokesman Alastair Semple said: "Sales went ballistic after we announced Paul Weller was to headline.

"All previous sales patterns were exceeded by around 300 per cent.

His shows at all seven of our venues are sold out. Obviously he has a huge fan base."

"The Sugababes are playing at Cannock Chase the following evening. Around 20 per cent of tickets sold in the first week and sales have shown steady progress since then," he added.

Tickets are available from the Forestry Commission box office at Birches Valley, on-line at www.forestry.gov.uk/music or on on 01842 814612.
