Jobs could be on the way in Kidderminster with work on a £2.5 million office block expected to start within the next 12 months.

The first two phases of the town's largest industrial business development have been completed with the development of ten industrial units, including one occupied by City Link.

Now owners of the Finepoint Business Park, Highcross Strategic Advisers, have secured permission for the office development on part of Phase 3 of the development in Stourport Road. Work is expected to be carried out by the end of next year.

The three-storey office block is planned to cater for small businesses, with space to support up to 130 jobs, and will be similar to others the company has already developed at Swindon and Leamington Spa.

Highcross development director Chris Mills said: "We would hope to start work on the building within the next 12 months but have no specific dates yet."

Until the office block is built, the total number of jobs which could be created is not yet known. But the company claims the site's location and flexibility of accommodation will be a big advantage for small companies. The site is said to have excellent transport links and is close to amenities.
