Hotel is expected to reopen
A new tenant has taken over Stourbridge's landmark Talbot Hotel which closed suddenly just before Christmas, the Express & Star can reveal.

Owners Westbourne Leisure confirmed today a new tenant took the reins this week, although the identity of the leaseholder remains unknown. The hotel in High Street, an historic former coaching inn dating back to the 17th century, remained closed this morning but it is expected that the site will soon be trading again.
A meeting of creditors was held in Birmingham yesterday. Former tenant Alan Whitehead, who ran the business trading as Midlands Hotels Ltd before the closure in December, called the meeting at Moore Stephens accountants. No-one from Moore Stephens was available to comment on the outcome of the meeting today.
The announcement a tenant has been found will be welcomed by 22 members of staff given notice as a result of the closure who are waiting to hear if they will regain their jobs.
Former acting manager Michelle Magee told the Express & Star last week Westbourne Leisure had informed her a new operator was expected to take over soon. A sign went up at the Talbot last month advising saying it was closed.
