Leading law student scoops top award

A talented law student from the Black Country has scooped a top award after earning high marks in her examinations.

Jaime Parkes, from Stourbridge, successfully completed her Acquisitions Law and Commercial Law examinations on the Legal Practice Course.

She was given the award after receiving the top marks in her year.

The qualification is needed by all those intending to become solicitors need to pass before they can continue to the next stage of practice.

Jaime, aged 24, completed the course at the College of Law in Birmingham earlier this year and scored an average of 85 per cent. She has now started a training contract at Cobbetts, an independent law firm

Jaime grew up in Stourbridge and attended Thorns Community College, Quarry Bank, and King Edward VI College, Stourbridge.

She graduated from the University of Birmingham with a First Class Degree in Law.

"I am really pleased after having worked so hard throughout the course.

"It is a real achievement and I am very proud to have achieved such a high mark."

The College of Law is Britain's largest legal training organisation for both student solicitors and barristers and attracts some of the country's most able students.
