Polish bosses of the operation on the former Barr Beacon Service Station in Pheasey are facing prosecution after flouting orders to stop trading.

The business in Beacon Road at the junction with Moreton Avenue was supposed to close in January this year after an appeal to remain at the spot was thrown out.

But its defiant owners have refused to shift and now legal action is to be taken to force it out.

Tonight its future, and that of another illegal car wash at the Shire Oak Inn in Walsall Wood, is to be discussed tonight by Walsall Council chiefs.

Walsall Council spokesman Dan Slee said: "We can confirm that we are looking to go to Walsall County Court to take out an injunction to stop a car wash from operating in Beacon Road, Pheasey.

"This has been a longstanding problem which we have been investigating for more than 18 months."

Today dozens of cars were using the business, which operators said was called Polish Valeting Services.

Neighbours today told how there are regularly queues of vehicles for the site blocking their driveways.

Councillors at this evening's development control committee meeting are also due to approve enforcement action against an illegal car wash on a car park at the Shire Oak pub, Lichfield Road, Walsall Wood.
