Dudley residents are being urged to check their recycling and waste collections times over the Christmas period.

Every borough resident will have three refuse collections over the holiday period but the dates will vary from the usual days.

Dudley Council's refuse collectors will carry out normal collections up to and including December 19 and resume normal collections from January 12. In between these dates, the council has planned a special schedule that will see each household visited on three separate occasions. People who normally have collections on a Monday will instead receive their collections on Saturday, December 20; Tuesday December 30; and Tuesday, January 6.

Households that normally have waste collected on a Tuesday will receive their Christmas collections on Monday, December 22; Wednesday, December 31; and Wednesday, January 7. Residents who normally have collections on Wednesdays will receive their collections on Tuesday, December 23; Friday, January 2; and Thursday, January 8.

Usual Thursday collections will take place on Wednesday, December 24; Saturday, January 3; and Friday, January 9, while Friday collections will take place on Monday, December 29; Monday, January 5; and Saturday, January 10.

Black box recycling collections due for Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year's Day will not be made until the next scheduled date of collection. Residents keen to dispose of their rubbish outside the scheduled dates can visit the borough's civic amenity site in Birmingham Street, Stourbridge, but should take note of altered opening times.

The amenity site will be closed from 3pm on Christmas Eve and all day on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

Outside these days, the site will be open from 8am to 6pm on weekdays, and 8am to 4.30pm at weekends.
