The 66-year-old had been a town councillor in Rugeley since 1999 and a Cannock Chase District councillor from 2002 to 2007.

Mrs Davies, of March Banks, Rugeley, was married to fellow town councillor Gordon Davies and leaves three grown-up daughters from a previous marriage. She was chairman of the town council and was on the amenity committee overseeing Christmas celebrations in Rugeley.

She was a big lover of theatre and part of the Best of Friends theatre group.

Councillor Pat Williams added: "Glenda cared a lot about Rugeley and she was very much a working councillor, she got involved and got things done.

"She had a wonderful sense of humour."
