The investigation into Pappu Sweet Centre & Catering – where boss Jaswinder Singh was caught making kebabs next to the dead body of Makham Singh, one of his workers – was today branded "undoubtedly one of the worst cases environmental health officers have ever witnessed".

The pictures snapped by environmental health officers show the disgusting build up of grime on the floors, walls and surfaces. New boss of the Cannock Road catering firm, Gurpreet Singh, aged 22, reassured customers things had changed.

Barry Findlay, Wolverhampton City Council cabinet member for the environment, said: "This was undoubtedly one of the worst cases our environmental health officers have ever witnessed.

Singh, aged 45, of Prosser Street, Park Village, pleaded guilty to 12 food hygiene charges at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court.
