She was bitten by an adder while out walking near Milford Common and was taken Stafford Hospital.

A national shortage of the antidote to the venom meant it had to come from the toxicology unit at Guy's Hospital in London.

The County Air Ambulance was called in to make its way to London where the medication had been taken to a rendezvous point by motorbike for the crew to fly back to Stafford within just one hour and 45 minutes.

The woman, who is from Stafford, was given the antidote and an intravenous course of antibiotics before being discharged.
