Junction is just a farce

Letter: Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! What a farce.

One recent Tuesday at approximately 8.45am I was in a queue of traffic from the Leather Museum down to the new junction, and on my return at 4pm was in a similar queue for about 15 minutes from the Mellish Road roundabout, down the A416 to this same junction.

From the time I was in a position to actually see the traffic lights to the time I got across, the lights had changed four times, and when it was my turn to negotiate the junction, I couldn't see where I was supposed to go because of an articulated HGV in front of me.

During 25 years of using this route (though not on a daily basis, I concede) I have never been delayed to this extent. Can anyone tell me how many sets of traffic lights there are, and how much the project has cost?

When it was just a traffic roundabout, everyone negotiated the junction as bestÊthey could and got on with it. WhileÊI appreciate that when the new road is completed, access from the M6ÊJunction 10 will be much better (until, of course,Êthe traffic hits this new junction), because the journey from Junction 10 is quicker, surely the backlogs will be longer.

Motorists beware - the Dudley Burnt Tree Island is the next one to getÊthis treatment.
