Two men and a teenage girl appeared in court today charged in connection with the attempted murder of a police officer in Bloxwich almost a month ago.

PC Robin Haddock was seriously injured after being struck by a van he had routinely stopped in the early hours in Sneyd Lane.

Three people have been charged with aggravated vehicle taking in connection with the incident.

Appearing at Walsall Magistrates Court today were Richard Fisher, aged 26, of Whistance Court, Sandwell Street, Walsall, Paul Sheldon, 25, of no fixed address, and a 16-year-old girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons. None of the defendants entered a plea.

Fisher and Sheldon were remanded in custody until April 18 where they will appear at Walsall Magistrates Court via video link.

The teenager has been remanded into the care of the local authority and has been given strict bail conditions.

She will also appear back in court on April 18.

PC Haddock, a father-of-four, of Sutton Coldfield, suffered a fractured skull and bleeding to the brain had to undergo life-saving surgery following the March 18 incident.

He is still in hospital where his condition was described today as stable.
