The bus stop killer who murdered two women and tried to kill a third will never be freed, a judge ruled today.
Murderer Levi Bellfield, aged 39, refused to attend court to hear the judge deliver her sentence.
Bellfield was yesterday convicted of murdering Amelie Delagrange, 22, and Marsha McDonnell, 19, after they got off buses in south-west London.
He was also convicted of trying to kill Kate Sheedy, aged 18.
The wheel clamper from west London is the main suspect in the disappearance of teenager Milly Dowler and police believe he is responsible for up to 20 other attacks on women.
This morning the former bouncer refused to appear for sentence.
His lawyer said Bellfield refused to attend because of "bad publicity" and was upset that he had been linked with a host of other crimes.
The judge, Mrs Justice Rafferty, handed down a whole life sentence after listening to statements from the families of the murdered women.
She told the court that today's statements were difficult to listen to, adding: "Bellfield has put the families through unimaginable grief."
