Old Post Office in West BromwichAn historic former post office building in the heart of a Black Country town centre is going up for sale – with a £1 million price tag.

The sale of the landmark building in West Bromwich's bustling High Street is being handled by Birmingham-based Bond Wolfe, along with some other historic gems in Sandwell. The three-storey building, which closed as a post office in 1994 before being refurbished as open plan offices, can also be rented.

Property experts are predicting that the building will fetch around £1 million, but people can also fork out £59,000 a year to rent the 4,7500 sq ft ground floor of the ornate building.

The first and second floors, which both measure 1,600 sq ft, can be rented for £33,000.

News that the old post office is going on the market comes after bosses at Bond Wolfe revealed people could also get their hands on two more of the borough's treasures.

A Barclays bank building in Oldbury will be going up for auction with a £420,000 price tag. The bank has a lease on the landmark building in Church Square until 2027 and pays nearly £21,000 each year to stay there.

Another building housed by Barclays in Smethwick will also be going up for grabs.

The imposing Grade II listed building in Cape Hill is expected to fetch around £450,000 when it goes up for auction.

A spokesman from Bond Wolfe said a number of historic buildings housed by banks were being auctioned off.

The auction will be held at The Hawthorns from 11am on February 27.
