Too cold? Give it up
I would like to comment on a letter printed on your page regarding it being too cold for smokers to be forced to go outside to smoke and how it should be "people's rights" to smoke in pubs and social clubs etc.

Can I say it is about people's health why smoking has been banned in these places.
Firstly can I ask, as a non-smoker, what about my rights to be able to:
1, Be healthy and not inhale other people's smoke, which research and statistics have proved can damage my health.
2, Walk into a pub without my contact lenses getting smokey and irritating my eyes to the point that I want to scratch them out.
3, Walk out of a pub without smelling like a dirty ashtray.
4, To eat a meal without tasting smoke.
Can I also point out that although it may be suggested that people should have been given the right to vote for this ban, children who visit social clubs, restaurants etc don't have the right to voice their opinion.
They do not want to inhale smoke that can damage their health. Finally I don't agree that people should be forced outside pubs, shops, restaurants etc to smoke because those walking past get a right faceful.
I think smoking should be banned in public places.
Those who wish to damage their own health should do so in their own homes and allow others who do not want their health damaged to go about their daily life without these hassles.
