People living along the Severn Valley were today warned to expect flooding as forecasters predicted around four inches of rain to fall over mountains up to 100 miles away.
People living along the Severn Valley were today warned to expect flooding as forecasters predicted around four inches of rain to fall over mountains up to 100 miles away.
Express & Star weatherman John Warner said the region would probably escape with just drizzle and light showers.
But streams in North Wales that run into the Severn were expected to be swollen by the heavy rain.
Flood defences have already gone up in Bewdley and there were warnings that Ironbridge, Shrewsbury and Worcester could all see the River Severn overflow early next week when water moves downstream.
Mr Warner said: "Most of the rain for the next few days is going to be over North Wales. This could mean as much as four inches worth will come down to the Severn Valley, which could lead to a high risk of flooding in the next week."
Despite predictions of light showers, bosses at the Bonded Warehouse in Stourbridge venue were still preparing for the worst putting up sandbags at the doors.
