Roadworks and new lane building will force a number of motorways and trunk roads in the West Midlands to close this week.

The biggest work is on the M6 at junction 4A, where it merges with the M42 and M6 Toll, which will see two lanes closed on Monday until July 21 as a £112 million widening programme begins.

The Highways Agency has warned night time drivers may face delays as a 50mph limit is imposed until February 18 at the junction at Water Orton, Warwickshire.

Elsewhere, the M6 hard shoulder will be out of use from junction 8 at West Bromwich to junction 10a at Wolverhampton in both directions from Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 4.30pm for maintenance.

It will also be closed from junctions four to five and from junctions five to 12.

Junctions 10a and 11 will be closed from Monday to Saturday between 9pm and 6am. The A460 Cannock Road approach to junction 11 will also be closed .
