Boos for Scrooge security staff

My friends and I are regulars at the shows at Dudley Concert Hall. On December 8 the Xmas 1 Show comprised all the hits over the decades that had made Number One in the charts at Christmas.

Although the hall was only about a third full, quite a few patrons arrived in their Christmas outfits, with flashing hats and Santa headbands, all ready to have an enjoyable night.

They were not disappointed as far as the show was concerned. It was a brilliant night of entertainment – until about the last half hour, when those nearest the stage with their Christmas outfits decided to join in the music, got up from their seats and started to dance, doing no harm whatsoever, just enjoying the show.

Then some over-zealous security staff went to them, poked them in the back and told them to sit down – not very politely I might I add. Anybody would have thought they were some yobs at a football match.

The enjoyment of the show proved too much so they got up again, and were again told to sit down.

This happened several times until we all booed the members of the security staff concerned, and one stormed out of the doors. He came back in, but at the end of the show practically all of the patrons were up doing their bit of dancing.

It was a most enjoyable show, but shame on Dudley Concert Hall for the pettiness and "Scrooge" attitude of the security staff.

If you think you can encourage people to attend shows with this behaviour then think again, because it was a perfect example of why patrons will not attend Dudley Concert Hall, even for some very good shows that are performed there.

That is not to mention the rigmarole you go through at the Dudley "Council Plus" building just to get the tickets.
