A Staffordshire pensioner has collapsed and died after confronting youths outside his home.
Alan Finney, aged 74, died in hospital yesterday following the incident in Tamworth.
Mr Finney called police at around 8pm on Monday to report youths damaging fencing outside his home in Furness, Glascote, before going out to confront them. Minutes later Mr Finney went back inside to his wife where it is believed he suffered a heart attack.
He was taken to Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield where he died yesterday.
Two teenagers from Tamworth, aged 16 and 18, have been arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage. They have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
Police say there is no evidence Mr Finney was assaulted in any way. Pete Stevens, of Staffordshire Police, said officers arrived shortly after the call and found Mr Finney had been taken ill.
