The move by Impulse, which sells CDs and DVDs, is set to create eight full-time posts and one part-time job at the store in the Rowland Hill shopping centre.

Group managing director Ian Hopkins said that the company had stores at Heathrow, Gatwick, Edinburgh, Manchester and Birmingham airports and train stations such as Euston, and that Kidderminster would be the first move into a town centre store.

He said: "This is an exciting move as this is our first store. We have also acquired one at Rugby and hope to move into Bristol and Wales and elsewhere.

"We have chosen Kidderminster because it meets our profile and because we will be moving into the former Fopp music store.

"The store is in very good condition and we saw this as an exciting opportunity. We intend to sell good products at a good price.

Phil Dunn, manager for the Rowland Hill Shopping Centre, said: "The store will fill the centre and being a music shop is expected to attract a lot of people to the town."
