Blame parents for yob culture

I have only one regret since joining the over-65 club eight years ago. It is that I didn't become a politician. As I under achieved in my secondary modern education it should have stood me in good stead.

In my opinion this government, which I voted for, hasn't got a clue. Forgetting the needless war in Iraq, I'm more concerned about the war in this country.

The talk of Zero Tolerance is a joke. The soaring crime rate is out of control. Teachers are not allowed to teach without being assaulted by parents as well as those being taught.

I have no confidence in the figures given regarding immigration and asylum seekers or of those entering the country illegally.

So who has the answer? What will it take to make this a country where it's safe to walk anywhere without being mugged or worse?

Teachers should be allowed to teach and correct unruly behaviour. I believe capital punishment should be brought back, especially for premeditated murder.

As for the so-called yob culture, there wouldn't be any if the yobs had lived and been educated during and after the last war, as my generation were.

We respected our parents and the elderly. We respected our teachers or soon found out the reason why. It's the parents of the yobs I blame. As to how to deal with them, only a King Solomon might answer.

As for immigrants and asylum seekers coming into this country, legally or otherwise, I'm afraid any action taken now would be like shutting the stable door after the horse had bolted.
