Hundreds of thousands of pounds are being pumped into The Hedgehog, on the A51 Stafford Road, by Vintage Inns, part of the Mitchells and Butlers group.
And the revamp is set to create new jobs in the months that follow.
The pub, which has been managed by Ron Brazier for the last three years, will close its doors to punters from October 29 to November 2.
The full refurbishment will include new carpets, curtains, furniture, lighting, colour scheme and all-new decor. And the reopening will coincide with the launch a new winter menu.
"This is a major project going on within the company to evolve Vintage Inns and keep it ahead of the competitors," said Mr Brazier.
