Wolverhampton was mentioned as a "major gainer", while West Bromwich and Lichfield were listed as two of the Midlands' three "winners" over the next decade.
A Government inspector is set to decide anytime now whether developers can forge ahead with plans for the £300 million Summer Row shopping centre. Work is set to start on the scheme, which will transform Temple Street and Cleveland Street, next year.
Lichfield is set to climb into the top 250 national retail outlets with its Friarsgate development anchored by Debenhams. The Three Spires Shopping Centre, owned by St Martins Properties, was mentioned as the premium site in the town for outlets.
The £500 million redevelopment of West Bromwich town centre is expected to lift the town to 167 in the national retail rankings.
