DROITWICH SPA 1 GREENHILL FC 1 AET, GFC WIN 3-1 on PENS

On Saturday Halesowen based Greenhill FC of Div 2 of the Mid Com knocked out Droitwich Spa from the division above in the Endsleigh Cup.

Greenhill took the lead early on when Dean Palmer diverted a Jimmy Mattin whipped corner into the net with some style.

Greenhill remained on top in the first half with 17 year old debutant John Boden looking particularly impressive. In the second half Droitwich slowly took the initiative but failed to create chances against a resolute GFC defence.

However, in the last minute of normal time Droitwich scored to level the scores.

The home side had the better of extra time but Dean Palmer had the best chance, forcing an excellent save from the Droitwich keeper.

GFC keeper Mark Whitehouse pulled off a pair of fine saves to keep out Droitwich's first two penalties and with Droitwich putting another pen over the bar successful pens from Jim Mattin, Dan Porter and John Milne sealed the tie for GFC.

Next week GFC travel to Droitwich again, this time to face their reserves in league action, kick off 3pm.
