The nightmare of being caught in the next thing to a birthday suit is just what confronted Black Country college worker Andrea Perrett when she was chosen to appear on Channel Four's popular How to Look Good Naked programme.

The 46-year-old finance administrator at Stourbridge College was stunned to be greeted by the giant banner when she took part in a day's filming at the Merry Hill shopping centre yesterday.

Shoppers were stopped and asked by the show's presenter, Gok Wan, what they thought of how Andrea looked in an attempt to make her feel better about herself.

Their comments were filmed as part of a seven-week makeover which will transform the way she looks and feels about herself. The episode featuring Andrea will appear on Channel Four on December 11 at 8pm.

Andrea, of Fennel Road, Stourbridge, said: "It was weird stopping complete strangers and getting them to say what they thought, although a lot of people were very complimentary.

"I wrote to the programme back in June because I wanted to feel better about myself basically, but I never expected to hear anything back.

Gok said he had enjoyed his first visit to the Black Country. "People were really friendly and down-to-earth," he said.

The final chapter of Andrea's story will see her bare all in a tasteful shot which will be shown in public.
