We're all becoming moaners
You carried an article from a local councillor regarding the missing slats on a bench in Wednesbury town centre. The councillor commented that it was causing a great inconvenience to local people.

It's amazing that we keep being told by the "old uns" how in their day they just got on with things and kept life in perspective, yet missing slats on a bench cause so much misery!
No doubt local councillors will be complaining in the next few months about the leaves from the trees causing problems on footpaths and people's gardens. Do people not have family members who can clear them, instead of the council? Then we will have the usual moan about Christmas decorations – not enough, not up in time, cost of running them etc.
We are becoming a nation and borough of moaners and we wonder why people stop visiting local towns. We must remember we portray images that people read about, sometimes nationally as well as regionally. What would we think if we kept hearing councillors and local people complaining about things which in reality may cause hindrance, but do no harm?
Local people should remember that our council tax has to pay for the manpower to do all these jobs. Yet we moan again when they put the council tax up to pay for it all.
If the "old uns" had such a good upbringing, please can they give the younger ones something to see what that attitude and spirit is. Constantly reading about very minor things causing misery means respect starts to wane.
I have the greatest respect for the jobs our councillors do and have never worked for the council so there is no bias.
Life really needs to be put into perspective. Maybe our first thought should be what we can do ourselves, before we expect everyone else to do it for us.
