A terminally-ill girl could miss out on a dream trip to Disneyland because her mother has been warned she may not get her passport in time.

Chloe Stone, of Walsall, suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy which affects her muscles and means she has walking and breathing difficulties.

Her mother Donna Jones wants to take the 10-year-old, who has spent much of the last 18 months in Birmingham Children's Hospital and the Walsall Manor Hospital, to Disneyland Paris.

The Caudwell Children charity has organised and paid for the trip for Chloe, her mother and sister Danielle, aged 12. The four-day trip is due to start on September 10, but when Chloe's mother tried to get a passport she was informed it would take four weeks as new rules state she needs to go for an interview as it is her first passport.

Donna, aged 31, of Rushall, has already forked out for fast-tracked passports for the children.

A decision on whether to approve the passport is due on Monday. A passport office spokesman said he was unable to comment on individual cases.
