Sporting heroes, comedy greats and stars of light entertainment will make up the autumn and winter schedule at Banks's Stadium later this year.

The Walsall stadium is set to host big names throughout this month until December.

Comedians Frank Carson and Stan Boardman have already signed up, along with singer Joe Longthorne and a Take That tribute act.

Sport fans will be able to dine with ex-Irish international and former Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion star Andy Townsend as well as English legend Jimmy Greaves, one of the country's top scorers in international football and a popular pundit.

Stadium spokesman Dan Moule said: "Here at the Banks's Stadium we pride ourselves on providing top-class entertainment both on and off the field.

In the coming months we have a number of superb shows, which cater for a wide audience.

"In terms of sporting dinners, we have some of the biggest names in football joining us such as Jimmy Greaves, Andy Townsend and Mark Lawrenson. Former Wolves marksman Steve Kindon is also appearing and, with his connections to the area, he is always a popular speaker.

"We also have some great cabaret evenings on the horizon. Joe Longthorne has already sold out, we have a comedy night featuring Frank Carson, Stan Boardman and Ian 'Sludge' Lees and our Christmas special with David Copperfield of Three of a Kind fame is also proving to be very popular.

"These shows are coupled with the large number of super tribute acts set to perform here between now and Christmas," he added.

Other events on the menu are Rat Pack Live, Magic of Mowtown and amateur boxing shows. For details log on to www.m6j9.com
