Celebrating our region's beauty
Whether it be the rural beauty of Weston Park or the gritty industrial landscape of the Black Country, the West Midlands and Staffordshire has so much to be proud of.
Today the Express & Star launches a new series called Beautiful Midlands, where we hope to celebrate the region through pictures. As ITV prepares for a hunt for Britain's Favourite View, we hope to show that there are many gems right on our doorstep.
We will feature some of the best photographs sent in by you between now and the television series in August and September.
The ITV show will feature 16 celebrities, all of whom will be talking about their favourite landscape.
For explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes, it is the sweeping curve of the Royal Crescent in Bath.
Cliffs
For Charles Kennedy, the former Liberal Democrat leader, it is a shimmering Scottish loch, while for the opera singer Lesley Garrett, nowhere is more beautiful than the Yorkshire Dales.
Broadcaster Des Lynam will put the case for the Seven Sisters cliffs in the South Downs.
He added: "The cliffs have been eaten away by the ravages of the Channel, have witnessed historical battles and have some of the most dangerous edges in all of Britain. But for me, this remains one of the most peaceful places on Earth."
Each episode will feature four vistas with the chance for the public to vote at the end. The four winners will then compete for the overall title, determined by a public vote in September.
None of the celebrities, who also include Jamie Rednapp and David Dickinson, have made their choice from the many scenic views of the Midlands. But there are plenty to choose from.
From Britain's resurgent Second City to the unique character of Black Country markets; from the picturesque Clent Hills to the Limestone Caverns; from the flight of 16 locks in Wordsley to the tranquillity of the reservoir at Gailey and the wilds of Cannock Chase – we want your pictures to help put this region on the map.
Express & Star picture editor Steve Derry said: "This is a unique chance to celebrate our region and to see it in its full glory from your viewpoint."
