Flood warnings were in place across the West Midlands today as torrential downpours continued to cause problems, after nearly an inch of rain fell overnight.

Met Office bosses are now warning of more heavy downpours to come before the sun returns.

Flash floods have been lashing the region for several days, causing havoc for motorists and homeowners. Dozens of householders have been left mopping up flood water following the freak storms.

Sandbags are currently being delivered to flood-hit homes in Shifnal.

Dave Britton, from the Met Office, said the wet weather would continue throughout today and warned the rain would be heavy at times.

He said: "The rain will gradually ease this afternoon but it will still feel quite cold with temperatures at around 14C (57F). "We are expecting some sunshine tomorrow."
